FAQs

Product information

What types of fabrics do you use in making your clothes?

+

We use almost exclusively natural materials, certified by strict labels in terms of environmental and social impact. When we produce parts with synthetic materials, they come from dormant stocks from suppliers or other brands.

What is GOTS certification?

+

GOTS certification is the strictest certification that guarantees decent working conditions for raw material producers. It also certifies respect for the environment and that no dangerous chemicals have been used. Find the complete list of GOTS label criteria here .

What is OEKO TEX STANDARD 100 certification?

+

The Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex® label verifies the absence (or limit concentration) of chemical substances considered harmful or undesirable (= tolerance 0) or their presence at very low concentrations (= limit values) presenting known risks for human health and the environment. Find the complete list of criteria for this label here .

Where do your fabrics come from?

+

All our fabrics (raw material) come from “near-import” suppliers, that is to say they are located in Europe, North Africa or Turkey. You can find complete information on the origin of each of our fabrics on each product sheet.

What manufacturing steps are carried out in France?

+

Apart from the manufacturing of the raw material, all stages of manufacturing our clothes are carried out in France, in the Paris region. This includes cutting the fabric, assembling the pieces, the various customizations (embroidery, screen printing, digital printing, etc.) as well as the washing of the denim.

Transparency and Accountability

How do you ensure the traceability of your products, from raw material to finished product?

+

In order to guarantee you complete traceability of our products, we work with our suppliers so that they communicate to us all the information relating to the fabrics. In most cases, we manage to trace the production chain back to the cotton (or other material) harvest.

Concerning the making of clothes, we have been working for several years with trusted partners and can therefore guarantee that everything is made in their workshops in Pantin and Paris 19t.

What specific actions do you take to minimize your environmental impact?

+

The idea of the Maison les Dames project is built around reducing the impact of clothing production. Concretely, our main actions to reduce our impact are:

  • Produce in France in a short circuit

  • Work exclusively with natural or upcycled materials

  • Work as much as possible with materials certified by strict labels.

  • Working with quality materials that will allow our clothes to last over time

In addition to these elements which are an integral part of MAISON LES DAMES DNA, we have also taken the following measures:

  • Offer our new products in the form of pre-orders in order to adapt our production to our needs

  • Produce very limited stock when we do and restock based on demand

Why did you choose to import fabrics, and how does this align with your values of local manufacturing?

+

Today, working with materials made in France does not allow us to maintain affordable prices for our community, which is a very important element for us. We therefore made the choice to seek out near-import materials, that is to say in countries specializing in fabric manufacturing and as close as possible to our workshops. Today these are Turkey, Morocco, Spain and England. These suppliers allow us to offer you responsible products, most of which are GOTS and/or Oeko-Tex certified.
This subject nevertheless remains a point of improvement that we often study, and that we would be delighted to integrate into our local and circular production approach.
